Sir George Grey, one of the earliest Governors of NZ purchased Kawau Island in 1862 and began establishing a Garden of Eden converting the Copper Mine manager's house into a mansion. Enjoy a wander through the restored Mansion House with many artifacts and houshold objects from the Victorian era acquired during Governor Grey's travels. Stroll through the  sub-tropical gardens with Weka, Wallabies and Peacocks.

Swim, snorkel, fish in the clear waters of Ladies Bay. Enjoy refreshments from the Cafe. Walk 15 mins to the lookout for spectacular views of the Copper Mine ruins, or follow the miners track through bush with Wallabies, Tuis, Wood Pigeons & even Kiwis, then along the foreshore to the Copper Mine.
